The Whisky Type is a passion project of writer, photographer, whisk(e)y enthusiast, and typewriter collector, Carolyn Wynnack.
Based in Lexington, Kentucky, where she lives on a tree-lined street with a cat named Peaty and a dog named Copper, Carolyn focuses on whisky education, experiences, and community.
In 2022, Carolyn completed the Diploma in Single Malt Whisky from the Edinburgh Whisky Academy, indulging in two days of whisky education at the historic Arniston House outside of Edinburgh, Scotland.

- Two stints as a distillery tour guide: Whiskey Del Bac (2021-2022) and Town Branch Distillery (2024-2024)
Since 2022, Carolyn has visited more than 30 distilleries in two countries and four states. She is a member of the Lexington Bourbon Society, a regular at the local cigar bar, and a frequent karaoke singer.
